Only days after going through an in-flight emergency on his trip to Germany, U2 singer Bono will be undergoing surgery after his cycling accident in New York City last weekend.
The 54-year-old frontman injured his arm after falling off his bike in Central Park and has cancelled his band's appearance on the "Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon. Supposedly to be featured on the said show every day this week, U2 will then have to reschedule as to when they can carry on with their weeklong appearance.
Band members, including the Edge, Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton have already released an official statement about their appearance on the "Tonight Show", explaining their frontman's injury and promising a comeback. No further details on how the accident occurred were stated.
"We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back!" the band stated. "Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding."
Last week, Bono also encountered another mishap when he was traveling from Dublin to Berlin with several pals to attend the Bambi International Music Awards. The door to their private plane had fallen off which caused the baggage of the musician and of his friends to be dropped from 8,000ft and scattered at an unknown German location.
After landing at an airport in Berlin, those who were on the flight learned that the plane's compartment at the rear had become detached.
The other U2 members had not been on the flight, although they flew together to the awards show this week. Bono already went on an earlier trip for an event with the German minister of economic cooperation and development, Gerd Mueller.
The musician then travelled back to the U.S. after participating in the Band Aid 30 track recording in London last Saturday.
