Jin Eon Kwak emerged as the 2014 champion of Super Star K6. On the 20th, South Korea's Mnet broadcast the final episode of the popular audition program. Many critics and fans have expressed that the fact that Kwak had won the tournament was a miracle in that while most auditions tend to favor singers with high-pitched tones, Kwak was able to critics that singers with lower tones could show equally if not more unique and lush performances.
The final episode of the show was filmed and broadcast from Kyeong-Hee University's Hall of Peace on the 20th (PST). The last standing 2 contestant, Kwak and Feel Kim were getting ready for the final performance of the show. Before the actual competition, Kwak and Kim had a collaborated performance, where they sang "Don't Worry My Love" together.
The finals was simple; the contestants had to pick and perform any song of their choice, in any style they wished. For his final task, Feel Kim selected Michael Jackson's "Man In the Mirror". Kim demonstrated a very cheerful and merry mood through his fast tempo. The judges expressed great excitement at his stunning performance. They noted that he has the potential to be a globally recognized singer.
Jin Eon Kwak chose to perform his own version of Yong-Pil Cho's "Short Hair". Kwak earned equally generous reviews from his critics. The panel noted how Kwak was really able to make Cho's song into his own. One judge stated that he felt very warm while listening, and noted that what was more powerful was not necessary Kwak's voice but his emotions and heart behind it.
The show was not over, and the contestants put their game faces back on for Round 2 of the finals. Feel Kim decided to show off his very own "Feel's Song", which carried a message about never giving up. Kwak also selected one of his own original works called "Boast", which was literally about his own strengths. As with Round 1, both contestants were showered with praise from the judges.
In closing, Kim and Kwak gave yet another collaborative performance where they sang Jae-Ha Ryu's "Because I Love". After that all 11 participants of Season 6 of Super Star K were brought to the stage and gave one last performance together.
The time had come for the final judgment. In the end, Kim scored 767 while his opponent Kwak scored a total of 770. Fans were also invited to vote online, and in the end, Kwak was crowned the champion of Super Star K Season 6. Kwak ended the program telling his fans that he will "work hard" to be a better performer.
