A Facebook post from Gill Rosenberg's personal account seems to confirm that she was not abducted by the militant group ISIS, Fox News reported.
Rosenberg, who is a 31-year-old Israeli-Canadian member of the Israel Defense Forces, was allegedly kidnapped by terrorist forces on Sunday after several ISIS-controlled websites claimed that she was captured, according to Jerusalem Post.
A local official from a Syrian town said the reports from the websites might be fake and were only posted as a form of propaganda for the militant organization.
On Monday, a message posted on Rosenberg's Facebook account claimed that she was safe and was not abducted by ISIS.
"Guys, I'm totally safe and secure," the post read. "I don't have Internet access or any communication devices with me for my safety and security. I can't reply regularly and only happened to have to log in and see these bull**** news stories. Ignore the reports that I've been captured."
There are no official confirmations yet if the message was written by Rosenberg herself since an hour after it was posted, it was followed by another message posted by a different person.
"On behalf of Gill Rosenberg, please be advised that she is safe and sound," the post read. "Do not listen to the reports for the past few days about kidnapping. I will update you again when I hear from her. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
Despite the confusing source of the posts, Rosenberg's unit commander Zagros Cudi confirmed to CBC News that the Israeli-Canadian was not taken by the extremists.
"It's a lie," he said about the reports of her kidnapping. "She's OK."
John Baird, Canada's Minister for Foreign Affairs noted that the government is currently investigating Rosenberg's condition to clarify the conflicting news reports.
"Our teams are obviously working to try to tackle the competing versions of what happened," he said to CBC. "But it is obviously a deep concern for us."
