CBN reported that Oleksandr Turchynov, the acting president of Ukraine is calling nation's armed forces for the defense of Ukraine from outside threats. Turchynov even moved on to request parliament that they turn the nation's interior ministry into a national guard, and also called in reserved troops and volunteers into the Ukrainian military. It has recently become known that the acting president is also a man of deep faith and is also gathering intercessors to stand by him in the defense of Ukraine.
Many Christian leaders of Ukraine expressed great respect for Turchynov. Turchynov has even served for a few years at a church in Kiev as a deacon. Wolodymyr Kunets. Turchynov's head pastor told CBN that he was a born again Christian who loves God.
Christians played a crucial role as peacemakers during the protests against the pro-Russian government that started last November. Ostap Kryvdyk who was the leader of the anti-government demonstrators gave his eye witness accounts about a time when he witnessed Christian minsters praying for dying protestors.
One such leader was Theodoisly Ivashko, a priest with the Greek Catholic Church. Other pastors and priests their own lives on the line to provide last service for dying protestors. Kryvdyk claimed that he saw Christians of all denominations, Catholic, Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox, showing the same kind of bravery and service to the demonstrators.
Some churches raised tents for counseling after the massacre was over.
