Shake City
Over a hundred Korean students gathered at LA Woori Church for a showcase presented by a praise and worship band, Shake City. This new worship group was about to release an album composed of major songs by Jesus Culture, translated into Korean lyrics for the "1.5 Generation" Korean immigrants and international students. Tonight was another of their special praise nights.
The members of Shake City were Jonathan Sim played the electric guitar), Enry Sim was bass, Jihyun Lily Yoon on the keyboard, Gu Min Chung was the drummer, and In-Ki Ahn and Carolin Shin were the vocals.
Pastor Nicholas Lee was MC for tonight's worship and began by welcoming all the students present who were mostly from LA Woori Church but there were visitors from other churches including GCJC (Glory Church of Jesus Christ). Pastor Lee moved onto officially introduce Shake City and the show case began.
After the first half of the worship, another special guest appeared. Pastor Jacob Byol Hahn from Seoul Dechi Full Gospel Church, and a renowned Christian author was invited to give a message. The theme for tonight was Numbers chapter two, where there was a description of the Nazirites, a group of people selected specially by God to carry out his works.
Pastor Hahn's message to the congregation in a nut shell was to become the Nazirites of Los Angeles, encouraging them that God had brought them to America for a greater purpose, and it was time to move on from simply dreaming about great things, but to actually take action to fulfill God's dreams.
Shake City ended their performance with great shouts of prayer and applause. Their new album is scheduled to be released after the release of Hollywood's Bible epic Noah. The reason being that the songs they included in the album are also part of the motion picture's original soundtrack. Shake City will have future performances in churches and college campuses in Southern California.
