U2 guitarist Bono may never play the guitar again following an unfortunate bicycle accident in November 2014.
"It's January 1, 8pm. I nearly didn't press go on this, and I am clearly delirious in places. It's very personal, but I feel in a not corny way that U2 has a very intimate relationship with our audience... so I'm going for it," the U2 frontmam shared on a blog post entitled, "LITTLE BOOK OF A BIG YEAR: Bono's A to Z of 2014," on the band's official website.
"I personally would very much miss fingering the frets of my green Irish falcon or my (red) Gretsch. Just for the pleasure, aside from writing tunes. But then does the Edge, or Jimmy Page, or any guitarist you know have a titanium elbow, as I do now? I'm all elbows, I am," he added.
In the extensive blog post, Bono shared how his 2014 went and talked about topics ranging from his family to iTunes release of the Songs of Innocence to his recent "freak accident" almost three months ago.
The Irish singer-songwriter also told his fans how the accident led him to cancel all his public appearances. He also mentioned that he needed to focus really hard in order to get himself fit for the band's upcoming tours.
The freak accident, which happened last November, resulted to a fractured arm, shoulder blade, hand, and eye socket due to a bike accident in New York. Bono's doctor gave a positive prognosis at the time.
After the incident, Bono had to undergo a five-hour surgery, which involved 18 screws and three metal plates. He now has a titanium elbow. The Irish-born U2 member is also undergoing progressive therapy and is expected to make a full recovery.
Fans cannot help but show their support for their beloved U2 frontman.
"What should I write after this touching words of our B´Man. So emotional, so honest, so private! I just say THANKS for this love, trust and for this honesty to the fans. B'Man, no matter what: we will love you FOREVER and ALWAYS be loyal to you. Many many thanks for all the great, touching, brilliant songs. Without U2 life would not make sense. In so many moments in my life the songs of U2 helped me with their incredibly deep lyrics. It is indescribable. U2 will always be with me in my life. ALWAYS... to the end of my life. Thank you for this!," one fan with the handle "alibono" said.
