Dell Introduced New Options and Designs for XPS 13, Alienware Laptops

As the CES has taken off with the latest product announcements, Dell has already put forward its latest systems and improvements for the XPS 13 as well as the newest Alienware gaming laptops.

New models have also been announced, incorporating the most up-to-date Intel processors, RealSense camera technology and other hardware changes.

First up is Dell's flagship ultrabook that comes in a 13-inch form- the Dell XPS 13. A new design has allowed the 13-inch screen to be placed within an 11-inch chassis that has become lighter yet more durable.

With the laptop being revamped using carbon fiber and machined aluminum, users can easily notice the enhanced portability due to a reduced volume and weight. The XPS 13 now weighs only 2.6 pounds and measures merely 0.6 inches in thickness.

The regular model of the latest XPS 13 features a full HD (1080p) display with which users can opt for a higher resolution of up to Quad HD+ and choose from a range of touch options.

Dell's XPS 13 also offers 400-nit brightness that will ensure a significant improvement in visibility. Fifth-generation Broadwell processors from Intel, Core i3 to Core i7 CPUs and 128 GB to 512 GB solid-state drive (SSD) storage can also be expected, depending on the model.

The ultrabook also reportedly boasts 15 hours of battery life and comes with an external battery termed as the Dell Power Companion to put in an additional 7 hours.

The basic Dell XPS 13 comes with a starting price of $799.

Meanwhile, the new Alienware 15 and the Alienware 17 laptops have also been introduced. Developed specifically for gamers, these latest gaming laptops also come with a significant reduction in weight and volume. Made with quality components such as aluminum, copper and carbon-fiber components, a lighter yet stronger gaming laptop can be expected.

The 15-inch and 17-inch models both come with Haswell Intel Core i7 quad-core processors as well as AMD and Nvidia GPUs. Compatibility with the Graphics Amplifier external GPU from Alienware is also supported.

Both the Alienware 15 and Alienware 17 feature full HD displays, but only the 15-inch laptop can also be acquired with a 4K display.

The Alienware 15 comes with a starting price of $1,199 while the Alienware 17's price starts at $1,499.

Aside from the XPS 13 and Alienware laptops, Dell has also brought on a couple of new updates for its current Inspiron line of laptops and desktop computers. For instance, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1gets a Special Edition, thanks to Intel's new fifth-generation processors. Fans can then look forward to improvements in graphics, battery life and overall performance.
