Katie Holmes will be making a comeback on television as the actress was selected to join Showtime's "Ray Donovan' for its third season.
Holmes will make her first major move for TV since her breakthrough role in teen drama series "Dawson's Creek', which first aired in 1998 and ended in 2003.
Holmes will be featured in the crime drama series as Paige, a smart and sleek businesswoman and daughter of mega-wealthy producer Albert Finney to be played by Ian McShane. The show will reunite the 72-year-old actor with his Deadwood co-star Paula Malcomson, who plays Ray Donovan's wife Abby.
In 2011, Holmes also played a TV role in the cable miniseries "The Kennedys' and also further gained popularity with her movie roles in "Batman Begins' and "The Ice Storm'.
Aside from Holmes and McShane, Guy Burnet from "Mortdecai' has also signed up for the series to portray Casey, Albert's prodigal son.
'Ray Donovan' ranked second for the most-watched series by Showtime -- next to 'Homeland.' The series revolves around the best professional fixer to the celebrities, as played by Liev Schreiber, and is currently in production for its third season consisting of 12 episodes, which will likely start in the summer.
Set in Los Angeles, Donovan offers his fixer services for law firm Goldman & Drexler, which represents everyone, rich and famous. When his father Mickey, played by Jon Voight, was released from prison, Ray faced his own problems including attempts from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to bring him down together with his associates.
The first and second season of "Ray Donovan' earned a lot of positive reviews from critics, and the performance of Schreiber and Voight for their respective roles were highly praised.
"Ray Donovan' has been nominated twice for the best actor category in a TV series drama for Schreiber, while Voight was nominated for Golden Globe's best supporting actor category in a series, miniseries or television film in 2014 and 2015.
