Paramount Pictures and Skydance have dropped a Super Bowl ad in the form of a "Terminator 5: Genisys' trailer, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and more.
The trailer begins with Schwarzenegger in his attempt to rescue a young Clarke and prevent a bus accident followed by a scene that shows Clarke commanding her robot to "load up" right before a vicious exoskeleton appears.
The footage also highlighted several words, including "new threat", "new mission" and "new fate", and depicted Schwarzenegger pulling the trigger on his gun and Clarke on a helicopter.
The last scene showed the 67-year-old actor assuring Clarke with his trademark saying, "I'll be back" and dramatically jumping off the aircraft.
"Terminator 5: Genisys' producers David Ellison and Dana Goldberg have shared that Sarah Connor, the character which Clarke will be portraying, will not be as meek and innocent as Linda Hamilton was. The interesting part of Connor's story bega when she lost her parents during her childhood and was raised by a terminator at age nine.
She then grew up with the older version of Schwarzenegger's T-800 terminator whom she refers to as "Pops" and has been programmed to protect Connor as opposed to killing others.
"Since she was 9 years old, she has been told everything that was supposed to happen," Ellison explained. "But Sarah fundamentally rejects that destiny. She says, 'That's not what I want to do.' It's her decision that drives the story in a very different direction."
The upcoming "Terminator' film will be centered on occurrences that happened between 1984 and 1991. It first made the headlines when details about a "revisit" to past "Terminator films were revealed, emphasizing the concept of "time travel mechanics."
As such, "Terminator 5: Genisys' was compared to films such as "X-Men: Days of Future Past', which also incorporated time travel elements.
While Schwarzenegger will be reprising his Terminator role, majority of the cast members are new to the franchise. Aside from "Game of Thrones' star Emilia Clarke, fans will see Jason Clarke (John Connor), Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese), Dayo Okeniyi (Danny Dyson), Courtney B. Vance (Miles Dyson) and Lee Byung-hun as the T-100.
"Terminator 5: Genisys' is set to hit theaters on July 1, 2015. Two more sequels from the "Terminator' franchise have also been announced by Paramount Pictures to be officially released on May 19, 2017 and June 29, 2018.
