With the premiere of "The Walking Dead' season five just around the corner, various reports and speculations have already outlined how it will play out for most of the characters.
As such, AMC has released a short trailer to give fans a glimpse of what's to come in the midseason premiere and onwards.
The last episode showed Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the crew distressed as they could ever be with Beth's passing, the lack of shelter, and the vulnerability of Father Gabriel's church. The upcoming episodes are then expected to show the company as they seek a new home and mission, and possibly meet new characters who may aid them as they go along.
The midseason premiere will be titled "What Happened and What's Going On', and will show the group in the present time. Regrouping and moving towards a more stable place and setting will be a challenge, and showrunner Scott Gimple has noted that the storyline will be "darker" and "weirder" before things actually ease up a bit.
"It feels like we're moving into a new show," Lincoln shared on AMC's video preview of Season 5's second half. "It feels like a new place visually, and also story-wise."
Former "True Blood' and "American Horror Story' actress Alexandra Breckenridge has been added to the cast and will take on the role of a mysterious character that the company will encounter along the way.
Ross Marquand, who plays Paul Newman on "Mad Men' has also been cast for the upcoming episodes in season five. No confirmations have been made regarding his character but speculations are pointing towards "TWD' creator Robert Kirkman's statement last November that a gay character from the comics, who is of great importance to the story, will be included in the TV adaptation.
With Beth gone, Daryl (Norman Reedus) remains distraught as he was able to get to know and understand the sweet country-girl-turned-tough-fighter in season four. The spotlight now turns towards Daryl and his potentially budding romantic relationship with Carol (Melissa McBride). Carol, who has entirely transformed into a strong character, may still bring on "moments of lightness" in the upcoming episodes.
The speculation that that there will be a reunion for Rick and his friend from season one, Morgan (Lennie James), is not yet confirmed. Morgan was last seen passing through Gabriel's church and finding the map which showed that Rick and the group are moving towards Washington, D.C.
"The Walking Dead' makes a comeback on Sunday, February 8 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
