The Big Bang Theory is a hit comedy show about four geniuses who absolutely love comic books and all things related to geek-dom. So far its past few seasons, the show has had its fair share of guest stars - many of which are big names in the world of sci-fi and technology.
Cinema Blend has taken on the daunting task of ranking the 12 best guest appearances of the show. Can you guess who earned the top spot?
12. Leonard Nimoy
Leonard Nimoy, the original actor who played Sheldon Cooper's favourite Star Trek character Spock plays a significant role in the scientist's life. And although his name has been mentioned here and there in a number of episodes, the only time he actually guested on the show was in Season 5 when he voiced the Spock action figure in Sheldon's dream.
11. Wil Wheaton
It was hilarious when Will Wheaton first appeared on the show. He was idolized by Sheldon, only to have that viewed changed when he used Sheldon's beloved meemaw to distract him in a card game. He has appeared several times after that and the two's relationship changed for the better in time.
10. Summer Glau
This pretty face is actually an alum of Firefly, Sheldon's favourite show. However, her appearance in The Big Bang Theory is limited only to shrugging off Raj and Howard's advances in an episode called "The Terminator Decoupling."
9. LeVar Burton
He starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation actor and hosted Reading Rainbow, and made at least three guest appearances on The Big Bang Theory. Probably the funniest appearance was when he was forced to appear in Sheldon's "Fun with Flags" video, saying he should have taken up Wil Wheaton's advice to get a gate so that Sheldon will stop bothering him.
8. Steve Wozniak
The Apple co-founder first appeared on The Big Bang Theory during the Season 4 episode "The Cruciferous Vegetable Amplification" and the gang was heaping praises at him with the exception of Sheldon.
7. Katee Sackhoff
She was literally the girl of Howard's dreams and The Battlestar Galactica hottie even appeared in a funny bathtub scene with Howard.
6. Stan Lee
The king of cameos Stan Lee would not be able to resist an opportunity to guest star in The Big Bang Theory, and he appeared in the season 3 episode "The Excelsior Acquisition" with Sheldon and Penny dropping by his house uninvited and he was wearing a Fantastic 4 robe.
5. George Takei
Takei's cameo appeared alongside Sackhoff's in "The Hot Troll Deviation" as part of Howard's fantasies and he also appeared to give advice to Bernadette.
4. Carrie Fisher
Carrie Fisher had a short but funny role as a crazy angry woman with a baseball bat after Sheldon and James Earl Jones rings her doorbell and hides.
3. Bob Newhart
Bob Newhart played Sheldon and Leonard's childhood idol Professor Proton, and it even earned him an Emmy. He won't be making any more appearances, unfortunately, since his character died in the episode "The Proton Transmogrification."
2. Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hawking's appearance was a dream come true for executive producer Bill Prady. In the episode entitled "The Hawking Excitation," Howard was given the task of sprucing up his wheelchair and thought of giving Sheldon's paper to the revered scientist. But Sheldon being Sheldon insults Howard's profession and he punishes Sheldon by withholding Hawking and makes him do several tasks before agreeing to his original idea.
1. James Earl Jones
The Star Wars actor made it to the top of the list after he and Sheldon do crazy things after missing the Comic-Con, such as riding a ferris wheel, doing the karaoke, going on a sauna, and later doorbell ditching Carrie Fisher.
