"The Walking Dead' star Andrew Lincoln recently opened up about the possible changes that may develop as the second half of season five recently comes into view.
With AMC releasing a footage of the first two minutes of the midseason premiere, Lincoln (Rick Grimes) also shares several possibilities that may play out before the fifth season ends.
"I think by the end of the season we're carrying more characters than we've ever had in the whole other five years, and that's what I mean about the plate spinning," Lincoln said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Lincoln also pointed out that the continually developing "Walking Dead' plot has led to a group of key actors around which the story revolves.
"I think [showrunner Scott Gimple] and the writers have just done an extraordinary job about really filling out and giving story arcs and extraordinarily emotional journeys to a substantial amount of principal actors."
Such statements may suggest that specific stories and characters which comic book fans have been watching out for will be shown soon.
When asked about the location of Alexandria and whether the casting of the character Aaron may imply significant changes in the upcoming episodes, series creator Robert Kirkman did not necessarily confirm how his character will be played out, although he did emphasize Aaron's relevance to the story.
"There are certainly fan favorite characters from the comic books that people are excited to get into the show, and I think that Aaron is one of them," Kirkman shared. "Aaron's a character that's still around in the comic book series and has certainly been on a lot of adventures and has had a lot of memorable story line stuff, and as characters to be adapted from the comic book series go, certainly a big one."
This Sunday, the hit series returned after being on hiatus since November. Fans were able to see Rick and the rest of the group as they grieved for Beth, who was played by Emily Kinney in the past seasons.
The midseason premiere showed the surviving company going over their plans to move on. With the church of Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) out of their list, the group has decided to follow Noah (Tyler James Williams) and go beyond Richmond, Virginia to seek a safe place.
After reaching the woods and eyeing the potentially safe haven, things did not turn out to be the way the group expected it to be, resulting to the death of one of the major characters.
For more upcoming episodes, "The Walking Dead' airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. E.T. on AMC.
