One of the most highly anticipated movies this year involves the collaboration of two of the biggest names in Hollywood today. The film, titled Hot Pursuit, will star Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, according to Coming Soon. In the new trailer released for the promotion of the film, the two ladies appear to make waves in the box office this year as their work in the action packed comedy will surely appeal to fans and followers of all ages.
The film will feature an uptight, bordering on neurotic, police officer assigned by her superior to protect the wife of a drug lord following the arrest of the said criminal. The cop, played by Witherspoon, and the wife, Vergara, will be battling it out with numerous thugs and other goons sent out to finish off the life of the drug lord's wife. Although it was not entirely clear who is running after the duo, some speculate that the mastermind behind the attacks is Vergara's husband himself.
The premise for this assumption is the conversation between Witherspoon and her direct supervisor earlier in the film's trailer that revealed Vergara's decision to testify against her arrested husband. In doing so, the alleged drug lord's fate behind bars will definitely be sealed.
In an effort to fulfill her duties accordingly, Witherspoon exhausts all efforts to guarantee Vergara's safety. The two will be seen racing across Texas to outrun the goons after them. Given the adventures and obstacles they have to go through, Witherspoon and Vergara will be seen forming a bond that could potentially lead to a long lasting friendship between two diversely different women.
In 2014, Witherspoon starred in various groundbreaking films such as Wild, The Good Lie, and Inherent Vice. She will also star in another upcoming film titled Wish List. As for Vergara, she has been known for her role in the hit TV series Modern Family. She also starred in the 2014 film titled Chef, while she has another movie coming up this year called Wild Card.
Apart from Witherspoon and Vergara, the film will also showcase other big names in the industry such as Richard T. Jones, Rob Kazinksy, John Carroll Lynch.
The movie is produced by New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, and MGM Production, while Anne Fletcher directed it. Hot Pursuit's screenplay was from the highly talented writers Dana Fox, Katherine Silberman, David Feeney, and John Quaintance. It will premier in cinemas on May 8, 2015.
