More setbacks push 007 Spectre film from finishing production.
James Bond might be the world's most popular spy, but his good looks and fighting prowess still does not get him the right to film in Rome's cemetery.
The monks from the mausoleum, which houses 5,000 deceased have refused the Spectre crew to film a scene there since it would be disrespectful to the lost souls.
The Sun reported: "The monks were horrified. It is a holy place. The tranquility and sanctity should be respected."
The monks adamantly refused to let Daniel Craig, who will play James Bond, shoot the chase scene there, since it will be disrespectful to the area.
The monks' refusal is not the only setback encountered by the crew, unfortunately. They have been banned from filming scenes in different parts of Rome because of its fragile fountains.
There was also some discord concerning a scene which was supposed to be shot on the 15th century Ponte Sisto bridge, where Craig will leap from a helicopter. But protestors were furious with the idea since the bridge holds a special memory with Pope Innocent X.
Moreover, Craig himself suffered from an injury while filming a fight scene for the movie. He sustained a knee injury during the movie's early production stage, and the crew had to adjust the work schedule to accommodate his recovery.
But his recovery took longer than expected. He was scheduled to return just a few days after his accident and start shooting stunts in London. But a source revealed that his injury was graver than initially assessed.
"Daniel's injury is a real concern. Missed deadlines are a nightmare in the film world as it pushes everything back," the source said. "Then not all the iconic locations can be rebooked easily or quickly."
"In two weeks filming is due to switch to Rome and bosses fear Daniel's recovery may mean they have to plan around their main star. It's certainly not ideal," the source added.
Director Sam Mendes sure has a lot on his plate with all the setbacks encountered during production.
They did, however, do well in Austria. The James Bond crew recently released a two-minute behind-the-scenes clip, which shows the lead star Craig dressed all in black, firing a shot and running towards a burning vehicle on a snowy mountaintop in Solden, Austria.
Gregg Wilson, the film's associate producer, even teased: "This is going to be one of the major action sequences of the movie, a jewel in the crown so to speak. It's going to be spectacular and Austria seemed to offer everything that we needed to pull it off."
