The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is continuously using gruesome punishments to enforce their laws, and the latest shocking news involves the terror group chopping off the hands of three women and whipping five men for using cell phones to call their families.
An unnamed witness told IraqiNews.com said that the Islamic State purportedly chopped off the hands of three women for unknown charges, while five men were brutally whipped just because they were trying to call their families.
"The ISIS militants cut three women's hands off for unknown charges," the man claimed. "They also whipped five people for using cell phones to contact their relatives while standing on the celebration stage in the Cultural Compound in central Mosul."
At the same time, ISIS militants also issued a strict warning to citizens informing them that cell phone use is against ISIS law.
They reportedly threatened to whip for 30 times the people from Mosul should they be caught using cell phones.
The International Business Times earlier reported that the women's hands might have been amputated as punishment for using mobile phones, but this remains uncertain since that punishment is commonly used by Islam for thieves.
ISIS has particularly banned all Apple devices from its provinces out of fear that the United States will be able to use the said technology to coordinate airstrike attacks against the caliphate. In the same order, all GPS-enabled devices were also banned.
"In order to shut one of the doors of penetration the enemy uses to attain its goals and strike with exactness by means of its war and remote-guided aircraft, it has been decided to forbid the use of any electronic device or a system that has access to service to enable precise location of positions," the ISIS statement declared.
Banning the use of gadgets is one of the newest prohibitions imposed by the Islamic State, which also includes smoking and the playing of music. They have also prohibited women from going out without proper niqab wear, and women are not allowed to wander the streets without a male relative present.
Late this January, they executed 13 teenage boys after they were caught watching the Iraq vs. Jordan Asia Cup soccer match, which ISIS claims is a violation of Shariah law.
They also forced two men to jump off a multi-level tower in Mosul for committing homosexual acts. And just recently, a resident in Ragga said that an ISIS militant broke his fingers by bending them back and forth using a pair of pliers just because he was caught smoking.
