Fans and followers of the quirky and comical Captain Jack Sparrow, played by the immensely talented Johnny Depp, will now have something to look forward to as the filming for the fifth installment of the highly popular blockbuster franchise already began in Queensland, Australia, as reported by Comic Book.
The upcoming film, which is titled Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, will feature an "all-new adventure" of a "down-on-his-luck" Sparrow. In the movie, the main actor will encounter even more terrifying and problematic situations as Captain Salazar, played by Oscar winner Javier Bardem, escapes from the Devil's Triangle and leads a group of "deadly ghost pirates" to embark on a mission to eliminate all the pirates at sea---even including Sparrow himself.
Given his rather pitiful predicament, Sparrow seeks out various means to protect himself from the incoming attack on his life. He then finds that his "only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon."
According to the synopsis, the artifact holds incredible power capable of providing its current possessor the capacity to reign supreme at sea. To put it simply, the Trident of Poseidon allows its holder to exercise complete control over the seas.
Depp recently starred in the comedy movie Mortdecai, while Bardem garnered accolades for his roles in No Country for Old Men and Skyfall. Meanwhile, Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush, Stephen Graham, and Kevin R. McNally will be reprising their roles in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The fifth installment will also feature new stars such as Kaya Scodelario, who was part of The Maze Runner and the UK version of Skin, and Brenton Thwaites, who starred alongside Angelina Jolie in Maleficent as well as played a major role in The Giver. Golshifteh Farahani from Exodus: Gods and Kinds and The Patience Stone will be part of the cast as well.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is written by Jeff Nathanson and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Chad Oman, Brigham Taylor, and Joe Caracciolo, Jr. will be the executive producers for this installment. It will be directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.
Paul Cameron of Collateral fame will be serving as the director of photography for the film, while Nigel Phelps from the Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be the production designer. Gary Brozenich, who supervised the visual effects in the Tom Cruise film Edge of Tomorrow, will be taking charge of the same in this installment. Although the majority of the crew may be new to the Pirates scene, the costume designer, Penny Rose, has been in charge of the wardrobe in all four prior installments.
