J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will be bringing back a lot of old and familiar faces - Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. So where does that leave Daisy Ridley in the Star Wars universe?
During the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens table reading, she was seated right beside Ford, and many die-hard Star Wars fans are dying to find out more about the fresh-faced actress and the character she will be playing.
Apparently, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will be her first major gig. Before that, she worked on Peter Hearn's horror film Scrawl, the 2013 movie Lifesaver, as well as other British television programs such as Mr. Selfridge (together with Jeremy Piven), Toast of London, and Youngers. She also starred in the short film Blue Season.
It seems like the 5' 7" brunette's past would remain a mystery since the world wide web has but little information on her. Her London-based agent Jonathan Arun tweeted after she got cast in the highly-anticipated Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens movie: "The casting of Daisy Ridley fits with Abrams' statement that he wanted to cast several unknowns. And more could be cast in the coming weeks, as Abrams has said more characters - likely female characters - will be added. But for now, the eyes of the world are on Daisy Ridley."
Ridley joined Twitter with the username @DaisyRidley the day of the casting announcement, and she tweeted, "Overwhelmed by all the support. This is the greatest day of my life. I'm told I can't say who I'm playing yet, but it's exciting!"
Since she made the tweet, people have been guessing who the actress will portray, but a lot of fans suspected that she will be playing the daughter of Han Solo (Ford) and Princess Leia (Fisher) because she was seated beside them during the reading.
Ridley will actually be playing Rey, a female who drives a speeder bike in the dessert of a planet, 30 years after the Battle of Endor. She will be dressed in tan, ragged clothes with a scarf around her head and a visor, which she got off a stormtrooper's helmet.
No other details have been provided about Rey, and the producers have neither confirmed nor denied if she is indeed the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia.
The film is slated for release on December 18, 2015.
