Facebook users have caught on with the Oscars fever as predictions for potential winners have been made.
According to the social media platform, "American Sniper' is most likely to bag the Best Picture award for this year's Oscars event, which is only a few days away. The biographical war drama film starring Bradley Cooper is reportedly the most mentioned movie under such category for the past two weeks.
After "American Sniper', "Selma' comes second followed by "Birdman', "The Imitation Game', "Boyhood', "Whiplash', "The Theory of Everything' and "The Grand Budapest Hotel.'
Based on box-office gains, "American Sniper' has already raked in roughly $308 million, which is slightly higher than the other movies' returns combined. This further boosts the war drama's chances of bagging the award.
Even people who have not watched the film have gotten to know the political cause being attached to "American Sniper' and are reportedly supporting the movie's possible victory at the upcoming awards show.
On the other hand, Twitter users have been found to support historical drama film "Selma' as the movie which is likely to win the Best Picture award.
Cooper has become a trending topic on Facebook as he is leading the list of Best Actor predictions, coming out ahead of Eddie Redmayne, Michael Keaton, Benedict Cumberbatch and Steve Carell.
Meanwhile, J.K. Simmons' performance on "Whiplash' also earned him considerable popularity on the social media platform as he is being deemed as the most likely individual to win in the Best Supporting Actor category. He is expected to triumph over contenders Edward Norton, Ethan Hawke, Robert Duvall and Mark Ruffalo.
Based on Facebook tags and mentions, other predicted winners may include Julianne Moore ("Still Alice') to lead the Best Actress contender list and win over Reese Witherspoon, Felicity Jones, Rosamund Pike and Marion Cotillard.
For the Best Supporting Actress category, Meryl Streep ("Into The Woods') has raked in the highest number of mentions on Facebook as she gains the lead over Patricia Arquette, Emma Stone, Keira Knightley and Laura Dern.
When it comes to honoring directorial duties, Facebook users are predicting Richard Linklater ("Boyhood') to come out as the winner.
"Big Hero 6' has also been recognized as the greatest contender for this year's Best Animated Film.
