Kristen Stewart is out and Jessica Chastain is in. The next instalment for Snow White and the Huntsman, simply known as The Huntsman has just recruited Chastain to play a new, mysterious character, according to Empire.
Charlize Theron will reprise her role as evil queen Ravenna, Chris Hemsworth will be the huntsman, while Emily Blunt will reportedly be playing Ravenna's equally powerful sister. So will Chastain be playing the huntsman's wife?
Chastain's acting history includes A Most Violent Year, where she breathed life to the character of Anna Morales and Intestellar, where she played Murphy, the smart and spirited daughter of NASA pilot Cooper.
As for her upcoming films, she will be seen next in Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak on October 16 then Ridley Scott's The Martian on November 27.
Meanwhile, Conrad Khan will be playing the huntsman when he was still a boy.
Stewart played Snow White in the first film, and really wanted to be in the sequel. But despite her eagerness to return, producers have already decided against it. In an earlier interview with IndieWire, Stewart was asked about a second Snow White and the Huntsman movie and the actress even said that sequel will be "amazing."
She added that she's "not allowed" to talk about the film, but that there is a huge possibility they were making a sequel.
The sequel is now in the works, but unfortunately, she is no longer in it.
The first film was a huge success, with $396 million box office numbers. But Stewart's notorious fling with then director Rupert Sanders prompted the producers to boot the former lovers out of the sequel.
In fact, Snow White's character will not be even seen or mentioned in The Huntsman.
The Huntsman will now be directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, the second unit director and visual effects supervisor of the original film, although it was initially given to Frank Darabont. Darabont had to let the project go because of creative differences.
Other directors considered to man the film include Gavin O'Connor and Andres Muschietti
The second movie will actually be a prequel and show movie goers how the lives of the huntsman and Queen Ravena intersected before Snow White came along.
It is written by Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos and produced by Joe Roth (Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland).
The Huntsman will hit theatres on April 22, 2016.
