The new Avengers: Age of Ultron poster showed a lot of things, and even though his character shot was not included, eagle-eyed fans have confirmed in the name credits that actor Anthony Mackie will be part of the new movie.
This means that his character Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon will be making an appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron this May 1, right before he will appear in Captain America: Civil War on May 2016.
Cinema Blend reported that Mackie has always been excited about his Marvel appearances, although he tried his best to remain secretive and tight-lipped about his involvement.
During an earlier interview with I Am Rogue, Mackie said that he begged to be back in the next Captain America film as soon as they wrapped up Captain America: Winter Soldier. But with Marvel, it's always a surprise unless you are playing big roles such as Thor and Captain America, according to the actor.
"The only person that had an early version of the script and read the outline was Chris Evans. I talk to him all the time because we are good friends and he would always say, 'Man, the movie is going to be good.' I'm like, am I in it? He would say, 'It's going to be a big movie.' So he would never tell me if I was in it or not. Even he keeps secrets. It's a dirty business," he laughingly said.
So when it came to his involvement in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mackie can only "hope" to be in it.
"I hope. At this point, I have not. I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope. They're doing reshoots and that's why I'm letting them know I'm available. So whatever weekend they want me there, I'll fly myself out and shoot whatever scene they want me in," he earlier said.
Mackie is not picky which Marvel movie Falcon will appear in. He said he'll gladly be in Ant-Man, Hulk 3, Thor 3, and even Guardians of the Galaxy 2 so he and Groot can "boogie."
Despite his confirmed involvement in Captain America: Civil War, Mackie insists that he has "no idea" how his character will be used, and whether or not he will side with Iron Man or Captain America.
Mackie considers it a huge deal for Captain America to get Robert Downey Jr. in Civil War. The actor himself is a huge fan of Downey, and he described the Iron Man actor as "down to earth, fun to be around, cool, and a smart person."
"Every time you talk to him, it's just mind-blowing the stories he tells, and the way he looks at this Iron Man phenomenon and how it's helping him in the third phase of his career to open doors to do projects that he has wanted to do forever but couldn't," he said.
