"Divergent' author Veronica Roth is set to write a new series comprised of two books, Harper Collins Children's Books confirmed to The Associated Press this Monday.
The books do not have titles yet, but the first one is expected to be released in 2017 while the next will be rolled out in 2018.
Several details were still made known, such as the book series having similarities with "Star Wars' and following the story of a boy who unexpectedly becomes friends with an enemy.
"Both desperate to escape their oppressive lives, they help each other attain what they most desire: for one, redemption, and the other, revenge," the publisher stated.
In an email to the AP, Roth wrote that the idea for the story began with a single character. The rest of the components, including the setting and plot, just followed.
The young novelist also added that she was able to develop a "pretty detailed" outline for the new series but is currently in the first few stages of writing.
"That's why I'm being so vague," Roth said.
The 26-year-old author finished writing her bestselling Dystopian trilogy, the "Divergent' series, in 2013. Over 30 million copies were sold. The books had been widely recognized along with "The Hunger Games' trilogy by Suzanne Collins as well as John Green's novels, such as 'Looking for Alaska' and 'The Fault in Our Stars.' These works significantly propelled the young adult genre forward among book lovers.
"I think I'd have to be a robot not to occasionally worry about expectations!" Roth shared to the AP. "But mostly I try to trust my instincts. It helps that I'm really in love with this project -- that makes it a joy to work on.
In the first "Divergent' film, actress Shailene Woodley played the role of the teen female lead, Tris Prior. The movie was released over a year ago and raked in over a whopping $100 million at the box office.
Based on the book series, three more movies are expected to be released, including the highly anticipated "Insurgent' that will hit theaters starting March 20.
"I've been really taking my time with it," Roth said when asked about the new book series. "I've written huge sections a certain way only to cut them and start again. I've stepped away for a while, to work on other things, and then come back when I have better perspective."
Meanwhile, in anticipation for the upcoming "Insurgent' movie, the film's official soundtrack has been announced. Included in this musical accompaniment are alternative rock band Imagine Dragons and all-female pop rock band HAIM. Under Interscope, the "Insurgent' OST will be made available beginning March 17.
