Microsoft announced that a skin pack DLC for the popular animated television series "The Simpsons" has arrived for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of "Minecraft."
The Simpsons Skin Pack, which can be purchased for $2.99, was unveiled on Feb. 27 and features popular characters from the television program, according to Venture Capital Post.
The latest "Minecraft" update comes with a total of 24 "Simpsons" skins.
Of course, the main cast of the "Simpsons," namely Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, are featured in the DLC. Other notable characters include principal Seymour Skinner, Groundskeeper Willie, Millhouse, Nelson, Ralph Wiggum and the bus driver Otto.
Although the characters act the same way as they do in the show, they are depicted in the traditional pixel form of "Minecraft."
Aside from the characters, the Springfield Elementary School is also included in the DLC.
Game Spot noted that other character skins might be made available in future updates. Or, given the creativity of 'Minecraft' gamers, they could come up with character skins and other famous "Simpsons" landmarks through the DLC.
The Simpsons Skin Pack was first announced in January of this year through the Xbox Wire. According to Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's Xbox Division, the DLC was developed in partnership with the producers of "The Simpsons."
"We have an active community of more than 17 million die-hard 'Minecrafters' on Xbox Live enjoying the wide range of downloadable content on Xbox," he said in a press release. "We are thrilled to partner with Twentieth Century Fox and Gracie Films to bring 'The Simpsons' to life on 'Minecraft' Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions. I can't wait to see what the community creates."
There are no official announcements yet regarding the arrival of the Simpsons Skin Pack for the PlayStation version of "Minecraft." However, in the Xbox Wire article, Microsoft noted that it intends to update gamers about the release of the DLC to other platforms.
