With Apple's special event happening on March 9, rumors have been stating that the tech giant may finally be introducing the highly-anticipated 12-inch Retina MacBook Air, internally codenamed as "MacBook Stealth.'
Last week, Apple handed out invitations for its "Spring Forward' event, which will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
The company is expected to give out more details about the upcoming Apple Watch during the event, especially with the wearable's release date drawing nearer.
However, sources who have a good knowledge of the matter have been claiming that Apple will take the wraps off the new Retina MacBook Air at the same event.
The Michael Report has confirmed that the details it has received about the unveiling of the 12-inch Retina MacBook Air on March 9 are highly credible.
According to the report, such details strongly match the MacBook predictions that were made last month by Ming-Chi Kuo and Andrew Uerkwitz- both are analysts from KGI Securities and Morgan Stanley, respectively.
In addition, sources from the company's supply chain have given their word to the media that Apple made a final decision to boost the production of MacBook components last year. Subsequently, the tech giant went into mass production phase in December 2014, aiming to generate an ample number of units for the device to be released early this year.
Apple's current lineup of MacBook Air products still makes use of non-Retina screen displays. Receiving a minor upgrade in April 2014, the MacBook Air still offers the same screen resolution that it has provided since 2010.
Other products from Apple's computer lines have already received major upgrades in terms of Retina screen use over the past years, such as the Retina MacBook Pro which was introduced in 2012.
Previous reports on the 12-inch Retina MacBook Air claimed that the upcoming laptop will feature an ultra slim design and may incorporate the functionality of the 13-inch MacBook Air and the portability brought about by its 11-inch counterpart.
The new MacBook Air will reportedly pack in the next-gen Broadwell Core M low-power processor from Intel, thereby getting rid of the fan assembly. As such, the forthcoming laptop will have a much thinner profile.
Additionally, the new body for the MacBook Air will reportedly be lighter and slimmer as Apple chucked out the laptop's large-sized USB ports, SD card slots and MagSafe connectors.
Compared to its previous models, the new MacBook Air has been rumored to come with a less expensive price.
Thanks to several leaked photos of a display unit of the upcoming Retina MacBook Air, the public was able to have a first look of the new device, which is evidently the thinnest ever laptop created by Apple.
