David Crosby Hits Jogger While Driving: Victim On The Wrong Side Of The Road

David Crosby, a singer-songwriter from the famed rock group Crosby, Stills, & Nash, hit a jogger on Sunday while driving along Santa Ynez, California, according to E! News.

Reports reveal that the singer, driving his 2015 Tesla at the time of the accident, came from his ranch located nearby. Cruising through the area at 50 mph, Crosby accidentally hit the jogger, Jose Jimenez, 46, with the right front end of his vehicle. The victim was with his 14-year-old son when the accident occurred.

Due to the nature of the injuries, the victim was airlifted to the nearest medical institution, the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Jimenez suffered from multiple lacerations, fractures, and abrasions. However, none of these wounds appear to be critical.

For his part, Crosby has been described as cooperative by the investigators. The singer reportedly halted his vehicle right after the accident and rushed to check on Jimenez. He also remained at the scene to provide details to the responding officers.

Authorities were quick to clarify that Crosby's liability was limited. Since the speed limit imposed in the area is 55 mph, the singer's driving rate was not an issue. Moreover, the collision report from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) disclosed that Crosby did not immediately Jimenez since the former was driving towards the sun which consequently blocked his view.

"Mr. Crosby was cooperative with authorities and he was not impaired or intoxicated in any way. Mr. Crosby did not see the jogger because of the sun," said Don Clotworthy, a spokesperson from CHP.

In addition, the spokesperson from CHP revealed that Jimenez was partly to blame in the incident as he was jogging on the wrong side of the road. California law dictates that the pedestrians on the road should always move against the traffic, or face the opposite direction to avoid accidents. This law applies to those walking or running outside business or residential areas. CHP shared that the road where the accident occurred is classified as a rural road. Hence, Jimenez should have been on the left side.

Although the investigation for the incident is still ongoing, the CHP spokesperson believes that Crosby will not be held liable for any charges.

"David Crosby is obviously very upset that he accidentally hit anyone," stated the artist's representative. "And, based off of initial reports, he is relieved that the injuries to the gentleman were not life threatening. He wishes the jogger a very speedy recovery."
