"Entourage' is a comedic drama about an A-List movie star who navigates through fame, fortune, and failures with his childhood best friends. It is a remake of the HBO television series with the same title. The film premiers in theaters on Wednesday, June 3.
The movie zooms in on the lifestyle of fictional Hollywood star Vincent Chase, whose sky-rocketing career brings him to live in Hollywood. Chase is played by actor Adam Grenier.
"Entourage works because it's about male friendship," said movie director Doug Ellin in an interview with Independent news.
Chase's entourage is a group of his three closest friends from Queens, NY and his movie agent. Eric Murphy is Chase's manager, Turtle is his driver, Drama is his older brother and Ari Gold is his movie agent.
Actor Jeremy Piven plays the part of Ari Gold. Kevin Dillon is Drama, Jerry Ferrara is Turtle, and Kevin Connolly is Eric Murphy. There will be many celebrity cameos in the film. Notable cameos include Mark Wahlberg, Calvin Harris, Jessica Alba, Tom Brady, Liam Neeson and Pharrell Williams.
"The Hollywood setting is entertaining but it's really about the relationship between these guys, said Ellin. "Ultimately, the show's theme is friendship and family. The characters may have the bling, but they're grounded guys who look out for each other. That's the backbone of the show. If it was just about fantasy lifestyles, it wouldn't be relatable."
The television series show the pros and cons of a celebrity's social status. It also shows the parties, film premieres, and other social events they attend. Most episodes feature real celebrities who make cameo appearances. The storyline is based on the life of actor Mark Wahlberg and his real life entourage.
"Entourage' won six Primetime Emmy Awards, a Producers Guild of America Award and a Peabody Award. Jeremy Pivon won a Golden Globe Award for his acting on the series.
