Developers Dismiss Rumors About iOS 8.2 Jailbreak Release

TaiG, the jailbreak team from China, has released an official statement to clarify the rumors saying that its version of the iOS 8.2 was already released.

According to the Chinese team, it hasn't released iOS 8.2 jailbreak yet but plans to do so soon, International Business Times has learned.

Days before the 2015 Mobile Security Summit on March 27, it has been speculated that TaiG is preparing to release the jailbreak version of Apple's latest operating system. Then, rumors began to spread online stating that the team has already quietly released iOS 8.2 jailbreak.

This prompted the team to dismiss the rumors and explain the status of the OS.

According to TaiG, it has not yet released the iOS 8.2 jailbreak due to various factors.

"The development and release of a jailbreak tool was restricted to several factors, however what TaiG Jailbreak Team wanted is to release the jailbreak of iOS 8.2 as soon as possible," the team said in a statement.

"But at present, rumors about TaiG Jailbreak Team has already released the iOS 8.2 Jailbreak Tool were spreading in the internet," TaiG continued. "Any information outside of TaiG Jailbreak Team official news channel should not be trusted."

Aside from TaiG, Twitter user an iOS hacker comex noted that an iOS 8.2 jailbreak tool hasn't been released yet.

"By the way, no - there wasn't any jailbreak release today," comex tweeted.

TaiG is the team responsible for releasing the jailbreak version of iOS 8.1. However, through beta updates from Apple, the company was able to restrict jailbreak access for the OS after the release of iOS 8.1.3.

After the launch of iOS 8.2, TaiG was able to create jailbreak versions for the first and second beta updates of the OS, according to Gotta be Mobile. However, since Apple is still working on future updates for the current OS, TaiG will not likely release a jailbreak tool until the Cupertino-based company has official unveiled the final version of iOS 8.2.
