American actress Anna Kendrick said that filming Pitch Perfect 2 was "a lot like school" because she got to hang out not only with fellow actors, but girls she considers as good friends.
The sequel to Pitch Perfect reunited the 29-year-old Kendrick with the Barden Bellas, including Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, and Anna Camp.
"When you get back together, you remember every little quirk of everyone's personalities," she explained to Glamour Magazine. "We're basically shooting the same movie again - different scenarios, but in a lot of ways, very much the same, so it was trippy."
Kendrick added that while they were shooting the sequel, the girls would often ask each other if they had actually shot the scene already because it felt so familiar. They would joke that maybe the first movie was simply a "fever dream" or a "premonition."
The only thing different about the sequel was how the girls bonded after they stopped rolling the cameras. Kendrick revealed that all the girls were hooked on the matchmaking television show The Bachelor, and they enjoyed "group texting" each other while watching the show.
Snow also echoed Kendrick's sentiments, saying that everybody involved in Pitch Perfect 2 just gets along. "We're just like sisters, and we are a family so working with everyone again just felt really natural and easy," she gushed.
Pitch Perfect 2 will be out on May 15, and it will follow the Barden Bellas as they enter an international a cappella competition.
The movie's director Elizabeth Banks said to Yahoo! that the girls are graduating seniors in the sequel, so they are struggling with their identities and deciding which step to take after leaving school.
"They're coming to the end of their time as Bellas and figuring out how to sort of leave the next and the comfort of each other's friendship and figure out what they're going to do with the rest of their lives," she said.
The director also shared that there will be a lot of authentic acapella groups that will cameo in the movie, such as Pentatonix and the Filharmonic, and Penn Masala. She is really impressed with all the groups since they do all their own singing and dancing in the film. Banks added that they tried their best to honor their talent in the sequel.
Other cast members of the movie include Hailee Steinfeld, Alexis Knapp, Katey Segal, Adam DeVine, Skylar Astin, Hana Mae Lee, and Ben Platt.
