New images showing the rear casing of Apple's rumored iPhone 6C have emerged online.
Based on the leak, the latest smartphone from the company may have a 4-inch display screen and a plastic shell, which is similar to the casings Motorola and Samsung used for some of their mobile devices, The Fuse Joplin reported.
The plastic exterior of the iPhone 6C is a bit similar to the design of the iPhone 5C, which was first marketed in 2013 after the release of the iPhone 5. The major difference, however, is that the shell of the iPhone 6C will have bigger ports for the device's speakers and camera.
But aside from the exterior design, it seems the plastic shell is not the only shared feature of the two smartphones.
Since the iPhone 5C failed in terms of overall sales, Apple is reportedly recycling certain parts of the device for the development of the iPhone 6C. Although nothing is confirmed yet, there are rumors suggesting that Apple is taking certain components from unsold iPhone 5C units and putting them inside its latest product.
If rumors are true, then the iPhone 6C sporting a plastic casing and recycled iPhone 5C parts could become Apple's cheapest smartphone.
Although the speculated iPhone 6C design veers away from Apple's traditional smartphone models constructed from high-quality metal, marketing the plastic-covered device could be beneficial for the company. Through the iPhone 6C, Apple will be able to launch a new product made from low-cost materials.
As for the features of the iPhone 6C, the device is rumored to have a 4-inch touchscreen display, according to GSM Arena. Like other current smartphone models, it will also have a touch ID fingerprint sensor. The device will also be powered by the A8 chipset, the same component used by Apple for the iPhone 6.
Apple has not yet issued a statement regarding the release of the iPhone 6C but the company may unveil it once it has officially announced the successor of its iPhone 6, which is rumored to be the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
