While the fans and followers of Dancing With The Stars may still be reeling from the previous elimination rounds courtesy of the unpredictable results and votes garnered by the contestants, it appears that the talent competition's Season 20 is not yet done with shocking the audience. In the most recent results show, no one was the wiser when Michael Sam and pro Peta Murgatroyd were announced as the pair to go home, according to TV Line.

When Patti Labelle with partner Artem Chigvintsev were declared safe, the audience may have been quite shocked that one of the low ranking pairs were saved. However, nothing could have surprised the crowd when The Bachelor star Chris Soules and dancing expert Witney Carson were pronounced safe as well. The latter duo, who scored a measly 27 during their half-hearted rumba performance, have been consistently at the bottom three week after week. This time, however, the fans of the heartthrob reality star may have rallied behind him to push him forward in the competition.

With the two pairs out of the danger zone, the night definitely became more unpredictably exciting for the viewers. Joining Sam and Murgatroyd, who were told to have shown significant improvement in their recent performance, were joined by equally shocked dancers Riker Lynch and pro Allison Holker as well as Willow Shields and pro Mark Ballas.

Needless to say, the fans were stunned by the bottom three contestants particularly due to the inclusion of Shields and Ballas who achieved the highest ever score this season of 39 in their lively contemporary performance that featured breathtaking choreography and jaw dropping execution by the pair. Everyone was indubitably relieved eventually when the duo was pronounced safe and allowed to push through the next week.

With Shields and Ballas gone, the episode became a battle between the NFL star and the lead singer of the band R5. While the two looked pretty promising in terms of showing signs of improvement, it appears that the musician's staying power in the dancing show is stronger than the athlete's pull. Moreover, Lynch and Holker scored a 34 in their tango performance last week which obviously trumped the 30 attained by Sam and Murgatroyd for their rumba.

Other highlights of the performance night included the waltz numbers of Rumer Willis and pro Val Chmerkovskiy, which earned a score of 35 from the judges, and Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson, which scored 34.
