The reality show 19 Kids and Counting will soon become 20 Kids and Counting since Jill Duggar just gave birth to her firstborn son with husband Derick Dillard.
The baby, whom they nicknamed Dilly all throughout the pregnancy, has now been given the name Israel David. He was born on April 6, 11:59 p.m. and weighs nine lbs. and 10 oz., PEOPLE reported.
Jill and Derick had their hearts set on a home birth with a team of midwives and some family members ready to assist them, but their plans changed and they delivered Israel David at the hospital.
According to PEOPLE, both parents and their new baby are doing really well.
Israel David's grandparents Jim Bob and Michelle are on cloud nine with his arrival, and could not help but express their joy and excitement in their official Facebook page. "We are so thankful for a healthy Mom and baby!" they wrote. "Love this sweet baby Israel! We are happy grandparents and we promise more pictures soon!"
Jill originally had two due dates scheduled for her son - March 24 and April 5, but the baby wanted to stay put a bit longer and has forgone both dates. But Jill, being a midwife and all, was not the least bit worried about her son's late arrival.
She stressed that the baby coming late is no big deal, and told expectant mothers who are going through the same thing not to worry about missing their due dates because it is perfectly normal. If you have it in your head that the baby will come late, then you will not feel discouraged, guaranteed Jill.
"I have told myself, 'First-time moms often go a week and a half over, so don't get discouraged,'" she earlier told PEOPLE. "When everyone else is asking you, 'When are you going to have that baby?' The baby will come when the baby comes."
Her husband Derick has been pulling all the stops to make sure Jill feels great when she finally gives birth to their son. "He is so sweet," gushed Jill. "He is doing amazing."
The night before their original due date, he even gave her a foot massage and offered to paint her nails. "He asked me what color I wanted, and we decided on pink nails. He picked out a bright pink and he said, 'Here we go - this will be your labor color.'"
