The Daily Show host, Jon Stewart, recently expressed his full support and confidence in the ability of his incoming replacement, Trevor Noah, to bring the show to greater heights. In the latest episode of his talk show, the soon-to-retire host not only remarked on his trust in the younger comedian's capacity to take over but also dismissed the whole Twitter debacle the latter was engaged in years ago, according to Deadline.

Apart from sharing that he is "very excited" by the decision of Comedy Central to choose Noah as his replacement, Stewart also went to finally address the Twitter posts that appeared to have haunted the upcoming host's career since these surfaced online. "I know there was a large kerfuffle on Twitter," the outgoing Daily Show host said. "But I can say this. I think without hesitation, Trevor Noah will earn your trust and respect, or not. Just as I earned your trust and respect, or did not."

Stewart also acknowledged the fact that responses to jokes and criticisms could be found in extreme ends in the audience. Hence, he shared that he is well-aware of the possibility of differing opinions among the viewers but requested the show's followers to give Noah the chance to finally earn their trust and respect.

"Because my experience with him [Noah] is that he is an incredibly thoughtful and considerate and funny and smart individual," disclosed Stewart to his fans. "And man, I think you give him that time, and it's going to be well worth it. I'm excited for where he's going to take this thing. And I'm going to watch. I'm gonna set my DVR," he further said.

The uproar began right after Noah was announced as the new host of the widely popular talk show. His social media posts, which date back to 2012, started to surface online once again as some loyal followers of the show clamor for a review of the decision to hand over the reins to the highly controversial comedian.

Some of Noah's offensive comments include this Twitter post, "Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my german car!" He also shared distasteful jokes that shamed women not only sexually but also physically such as this post, "Oh yeah the weekend. People are gonna get drunk & think that I'm sexy!" - fat chicks everywhere."
