Oscar Nominee Tim Reckart To Direct 'The Lamb': "An Inspirational Story Of A Young Lamb Who Will Change The World"

Academy award nominee, Tim Reckart, is announced to seat in the director's chair for Sony Pictures Animation's latest project, The Lamb, according to Coming Soon. This project will mark Reckart's feature directorial debut.

The Lamb is described as a fully CG-animated picture featuring the "inspirational story of a young lamb who will change the world." First publicly revealed in September 2014, the project will involve an all-animal cast and will be based on the Christian nativity story. The film is the brainchild of Tom Sheridan, who also worked with Universal for another project, titled Chilly Willy.

Sony will be producing the movie in cooperation with Franklin Entertainment, which is owned by DeVon Franklin who previously worked as an executive at Columbia Pictures and is currently a preacher for the Seventh-day Adventist church. Prior to his departure from Columbia, Franklin has been recognized as one of the forces behind The Pursuit of Happyness, Heaven is for Real, and The Karate Kid.

"I'm thrilled to be developing The Lamb with DeVon Franklin and the team at Sony Pictures Animation, who have been so supportive of my efforts to develop a bold, creative direction for the project," shared Reckart following the announcement.

The director went on to say that The Lamb brings "a powerful story" that will evoke "deeply felt emotions" from the viewers. Moreover, Reckart aims to bring to life the gorgeous visuals that will be used for the film. He also attributes the interest and fanfare to be received by the project to the "humor and charm" of the cast, which will be primarily composed of animals. "I can't imagine a more exciting project for my animated feature debut," Reckart disclosed.

Meanwhile, Franklin remarked that he is "beyond thrilled" to be collaborating with the director. He shared that he sees Reckart as "one of the most talented new visionaries" taking part in the animation industry at this age.

"He's [Reckart] truly one of the most talented new visionaries working in animation today," said Franklin, referring to the skill and talent of the director. "We are already blown away by his unique storytelling and the creative imprint he is bringing to this project," the producer added.

Reckart has been known for his short films which include Head Over Heels, Token Hunchback, and Leftovers.
