The Golden Girls television show wrapped up years ago but fans still could not get enough of the girls. Pretty soon, they could even be immortalized as Lego figures, since over 10,000 people have already signified their intent to purchase the television show's Lego reimagining.
There has been a pitch provided to the Legos Idea site to create Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia, also known as The Golden Girls and their adorable Miami bachelorette pad, according to Yahoo! News.
A person with the username "lostsleep" presented the idea to the Lego Ideas page with an incredibly detailed Lego redo of the Golden Girls set. The fan transformed the girls' living and kitchen into a Lego set, and paid careful attention to details since not a cabinet or prop has been missed.
In fact, Dorothy's ex Stan Zbornak was even present in the presentation provided by "lostsleep."
Other television shows that have been pitched in to Lego include a Seinfeld set, as well as Flintstones and Friends, but so far the pitch for The Golden Girls has been the most beautiful and it also received the most favorable response.
"This is what I'd ask Santa for my 76th birthday. Hope the lanai get added. I'm still watching them late at night; they've been a bad influence on me; now I'm eating ice cream straight from the carton and loving it," someone wrote.
Another person said, "Shut up and take my money is right!! I know Lego sets are expensive, but I would pay pretty much anything to own The Golden Girls set."
The Golden Girls is an American sitcom created by Susan Harris and it aired originally on NBC from September 14, 1985 to May 9, 1992. It starred Rue McClanahan as Blanche Deveraux, Betty White as Rose Nylund, Bea Arthur as Dorothy Zbornak, and Estelle Getty as Sophia Petrillo.
The show was well-received by audiences and received several awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series and three Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy.
The stars of the show each received Emmy Awards as well, and it was quite a feat considering only three other sitcoms managed to achieve this. Golden Girls also ranked as one of the top ten highest-rated programs for six out of its seven sitcoms.
Moreover, in 2014, the Writers Guild of America hailed the sitcom as number 69 in their list of "101 Best Written TV Series of All Time."
