New Opera Mini 8 updated for Android Comes with Private Browsing, Swipe Gesture Support and Faster Loading Time

Opera Software has launched the latest version of its Opera Mini for Android devices.

The latest update, the Opera Mini 8, has a new design and comes with a variety of features, according to NDTV.

Opera's latest version of its browser for Android compresses web page by about 10 percent. This means it is capable of decreasing data traffic and the sites' loading time so that users can access their content at a much faster rate.

In addition, the Opera Mini 8 has swipe gesture support which users can utilize to close tabs, abort downloads and delete bookmarked pages. The settings of the latest version of the browser also include a private browsing mode and a customizable layout.

The interface of the browser can also be changed through its DPI support to accommodate devices with high resolutions such as certain smartphones and tablets.

According to Christian Uribe, the product manager for the Opera Mini, version 8 was designed to deliver better service to users.

"Opera Mini is the browser that gets you from A to B on the web, no matter where you are, what your network is like or which device you use," the executive said in a statement according to PC Mag.

"Today's updated features and design make Opera Mini a browser that's truly enjoyable to use, with a lighter and fresher browsing experience," he added.

The Opera Mini 8 is now available and can be downloaded through Google Play. The update has a size of 2.8 megabytes and can only be used for Android version 2.3 and above.

Following the launch of the Opera Mini 8, Lars Boilesen, the CEO of Opera Software, said on Monday that the company is targeting to become one of the leading browser-maker in the market. It aims to do so by doubling its current user base of 130 million to 275 million by 2017.
