The "Star Wars' film franchise recently made the headlines once again after the second trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens', which debuts in December, was unveiled at a Celebration event in California.
The clip offered fans with their first look at the return of Han Solo, portrayed by Harrison Ford, and his Wookiee sidekick Chewbacca. The duo step into the Millennium Falcon with Han announcing: "Chewie, we're home."
Ford last starred in a "Star Wars' movie over three decades ago in the "Return of the Jedi', which was released in 1983. The actor was not present at the celebration event in Anaheim as he is currently recovering at his home after his plane crash last March.
For the upcoming movie, Carrie Fisher will be resuming her role as Princess Leia while Mark Hamill will be reprising his role as Luke Skywalker. At the celebration event, Hamill shared some positive words for the fans of the film franchise.
"Over the years, all my entire life, I've felt such love from you," the actor said. "You're more than just fans. You're family."
Before the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens' trailer was launched, director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy took on the panel and teased fans about the updates that will be released for the coming months.
"We have many, many months before the movies come out, and I promise you we will have a lot of fun over the next few months revealing these characters," the award-winning director stated.
Aside from the trailer, "Star Wars' also had a glimpse of stills of Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley wearing their costumes as their respective characters. They will be joined by a new set of stars, including "Game of Thrones' actress Gwendoline Christie, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o and "Girls' actor Adam Driver.
Meanwhile, George Lucas, father of "Star Wars' films, has revealed that he has not had a glimpse of the latest teaser for "The Force Awakens.'
In an interview with Stephen Colbert at the Tribeca Film Festival, the 70-year-old director and screenwriter admitted that he has not yet watched the trailer and that he wanted to wait instead.
"I have seen the first one," the "Star Wars' creator said, referring to the first trailer unveiled last November. "I just saw what was on CBS but I'm going to try to look at it. I want to see it on the big screen."
