People Magazine has given Sandra Bullock the honor of being the world's most beautiful woman of 2015, the publication announced last Wednesday.
The 50-year-old actress now joins the long list of actresses to have bagged the title, including Lupita Nyong'o (2014) and Gwyneth Paltrow (2013).
Bullock has expressed her sentiments on being called the most beautiful woman of the year, referring to the whole thing as "ridiculous".
"Real beauty is quiet. Especially in this town, it's just so hard not to say, 'Oh, I need to look like that,'" the award-winning actress told People.
She further added that beauty should be attributed to one's attempt in becoming a good person as a whole.
"Be a good person; be a good mom; do a good job with the lunch; let someone cut in front of you who looks like they're in a bigger hurry," Bullock explained. "The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren't trying."
In her cover story, Bullock's life at home with her five-year-old son Louis is highlighted along with her efforts in prioritizing health and fitness in her 50s.
Aside from motherhood, the actress also shared her secrets to maintaining a healthy diet, such as moving away from sweets and incorporating green juice to her daily routine. Bullock also makes time for a satisfying workout four to five times a week, which the movie star believes helps her stay balanced and grounded.
According to the Oscar-winning actress of films including "Gravity," "The Blind Side" and "Crash", she has found happiness in being who she is.
"As long as I'm healthy and strong and I don't let this mind of mine run amok with insecurities about what I am not, I can look in the mirror and like who I see," Bullock shared.
Choosing Bullock, the oldest female to be honored with such title in the history of the list, has become an actual indication that beauty should not be associated with age, as many online community members emphasized.
"Great choice! Gorgeous, talented, over 50 and FABULOUS! That's the way it's done!" one fan wrote on People's official Facebook page.
Aside from Bullock, other celebrities included in the magazine's "most beautiful" list of the year are Gabrielle Union, Ariane Grande and Laverne Cox.
