On Thursday, Chinese electronics firm Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship smartphone exclusively for its Indian market.
Its latest product, the Xiaomi Mi 4i is scheduled to go on sale on April 30 for Rs. 12,999 or a little over $200, NDTV reported.
For its newest product, Xiaomi veered away from the body design of its predecessor, the Mi 4. Instead of going for a metal casing, the company equipped the Mi 4i with a polycarbonate shell.
Although it's plastic, the cover is not glossy since Xiaomi designed the Mi 4i with a soft touch matte finish and anti-grease coating.
The smartphone has a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. Its screen is protected by OGS Corning Concore IPS. According to the company, this offers the same screen protection as the Gorilla Glass 3.
The device also features a sunlight mode, which automatically increases the brightness and contrast of the screen's settings when used under bright light conditions, according to The Verge.
On the technical side, the Xiaomi Mi 4i runs on the MIUI 6 OS, which is based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. The device is equipped by Qualcomm's 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615. This processor clocks in at 1.1GHz. The smartphone also sports the Adreno 405 GPU with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage.
In addition, the Mi 4i features a 13-megapixel rear camera paired with a 5-megapixel front camera.
The device is powered by a 3120mAh battery that comes with a quick charging feature. Xiaomi explained that the battery can be charged to its full capacity in around three hours. The company claimed that at full charge, the device can last a day and a half of regular usage, Ars Technica has learned.
Despite having a high-capacity battery, the Xiaomi Mi 4i is only 7.8mm thick. The company also said that its latest smartphone is 13 percent lighter compared to its other devices.
