It appears that the departure of Zayn Malik from the widely popular English boy band, One Direction, not only served to strengthen the bond among the four remaining members but also pushed each one of them to strive harder to give their loyal, albeit still grieving, fans an album that would endure the test of time. In an interview with Capital FM, Liam Payne revealed the direction the foursome will be taking and what fans could expect in their next album - the first they will be launching sans Malik.
While the seemingly sudden decision of Malik left One Direction fans reeling over the loss, the four boys left, Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, held on to one another in an effort to complete their scheduled tour successfully and provide comfort to their mourning fans as well. With the news of production for their new album already commencing, the remaining members are more determined than ever to give their followers a very memorable set of songs.
"The albums coming together really well actually," Payne disclosed during the interview. "The boys, we've been writing with have come up with some great, great songs that are kind of like a bit Oasis-y almost which is ace," he shared. "I love that," the One Direction member added.
Payne also revealed some of the band's inspiration in creating their new set, which is speculated to come out at around Christmas time this year.
"The songs have come out a bit more chill," he said, adding that they are intending the songs to become "quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to anytime." To further explain the intention of the group and the direction they aim to take in this upcoming project, Payne said that the album will take inspiration from Ed Sheeran's timelessness.
"You like how Ed's album," he stated. "Anytime you can throw on an Ed song, and it can always make sense," Payne said. "We're trying to do that," he admitted during the radio interview.
Apart from fellow English artist, Sheeran, the One Direction boys had been spotted hanging out with other big music stars early this year. Capital revealed that Chad Kroeger from Nickelback was seen with Payne and Tomlinson in February. While it may seem that the three might only be meeting up casually, the fact that they were in a studio at that time sparked rumors on the possible influence of the rock band to the pop group. Meanwhile, Juicy J, a well-known rapper, was also seen potentially discussing things with Payne as well.
