The first trailer for "The Last Witch Hunter' has been unveiled, and Vin Diesel's newest action-fantasy film finds the "Furious 7' star leaving the world of cars and picking up a sword for a change.
"Witch Hunter' is helmed by Breck Eisner who previously worked on the 2010 horror film remake of "The Crazies' and will hit theaters on October 23. The supernatural action movie follows the story of Kaulder, an immortal warrior who has already waged war against evil supernatural beings for the past centuries.
Aside from Kaulder, who is portrayed by Diesel, other witch hunters have also existed to battle it out against these vicious creatures that are intent on releasing the Black Death upon the Earth.
Being able to slay the Queen Witch and destroy her followers, Kaulder was cursed by the witch, giving him her own immortality, separating him from his family and leading him to live on and reach modern-day times in New York City.
However, in his pursuit to continue his mission, the resurrection of the Queen Witch was unanticipated and now she seeks revenge on Kaulder, resulting to a battle that will determine the fate of the world.
Although the first trailer did not reveal much detail, Diesel was shown to be paying particular attention to his armory while several supernatural incidents flashed through the clip.
Michael Caine also makes an appearance in his supporting role, which is similar to that of Alfred in the "Dark Knight' film series. He calls Kaulder "the greatest warrior"¦ in a war between our world and the next."
Aside from Diesel, "Game of Thrones' alum Rose Leslie a.k.a Ygritte also joins the cast as Kaulder's ally.
As the 47-year-old actor is currently making the headlines, thanks to the international success of "Furious 7', Lionsgate is expected to carry such momentum onto the upcoming "Witch Hunter.'
However, despite the popularity of the seventh "Fast and Furious' installment, Diesel's new supernatural action movie could require more efforts in appealing to the audiences.
Although Diesel has long been involved in the "Fast and Furious' movies, he has not taken part in a major film franchise of his own. Furthermore, certain attempts at adapting contemporary fantasy stories, such as "I, Frankenstein' and "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' have underperformed at the box office.
