"May the fourth be with you" will be one of George Osborne's statements this Monday when he announces that "Star Wars: Episode VIII' will be filmed in the United Kingdom. Its production will be based at Pinewood Studios.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer will bring good news to "Star Wars' fans during the annual celebration of the movie's franchise created by George Lucas with its first ever film released in 1977.
Osborne will also announce that Lucasfilm will be allocating roughly £100m for the movie, thereby helping generate at least 3,000 job opportunities. This will be the fourth "Star Wars' installment to be filmed in the U.K.
Helmed by Rian Johnson, "Star Wars: Episode VIII' will begin shooting in 2016 as it has been scheduled for a 2017 release date.
"This investment by Lucasfilm "¦ is a huge vote of confidence in all elements of movie-making in Britain - from the visual effects designers to the lighting technicians and from the carpenters to the costume designers," the chancellor will say.
He is also expected to briefly state how such filming opportunity can be of great advantage to the country.
"The creative industries make a huge economic and cultural contribution to the UK," Osborne is expected to say. "That is why in budget after budget as chancellor, I announced measures to support the industry."
In addition, Osborne will express commitment to supporting the entertainment sector as well as Lucasfilm's decision to film in the U.K. and turn it into one of the studio's homes for the production of "Star Wars' projects.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy stated: "We are looking forward to continuing the new generation of Star Wars movies in the UK."
Over the weekend, however, one of the "Star Wars' movies lost Josh Trank as its director as the 31-year-old writer exited the second spinoff in the upcoming series of films.
Although Trank had been set to helm the second "Star Wars' standalone film, he made his goodbye official by posting a personal message on the "Star Wars' website, stating that it was his personal decision to exit this sci-fi universe.
Meanwhile, fans can still look forward to the highly anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens', which will hit theaters on December 18. The series' first spinoff movie, "Star Wars: Rogue One', directed by Gareth Edwards, will also arrive in cinemas a year later.
