Justin Bieber, who rose to fame in 2007 after being discovered on YouTube, has already built an extensive music empire in merely eight years. In an interview with People Magazine, the 21-year-old momentarily set aside his music career and opened up about his family, his beliefs and the difficult times he has surpassed over the years.
"There have been times where it has been difficult," the 21-year-old said to People. "But as long as I put God and family first, I can find my way through most things."
Bieber also stated the importance of surrounding himself with honest individuals who are able to openly point out his mistakes, which he referred to as a helpful deed.
Speaking about his family, Bieber stated that he wants to be an ideal example for his siblings.
"I love my brother and sister so much," the music star said. "I want to help them be the best they can be and being someone they can look up to is definitely an important part of that."
Over the past months, Bieber has recognized his "past mistakes and bad decisions."
Last summer, Selena Gomez's former beau pleaded guilty to reckless driving and resisting arrest after an incident in Miami Beach in which he and his pal faced accusations of racing exotic sports cars.
Since then, Bieber gave a speech after his Comedy Central Roast last March and has been hoping that the public will accept his sincere apologies.
He did speak about his music career in an interview with U.K. magazine Hero, saying that he is currently recording an upcoming studio album. The star has not released any albums since 2012.
"I was 17 when I recorded most of my last album, and I'm 21 now. I've been through a lot in a public way, which gives me a much different perspective on things," the "Boyfriend' singer said about his upcoming album, which Kanye West and Rick Rubin are partly producing.
Last Saturday night, Bieber watched his friend Floyd Mayweather Jr. win over Manny Pacquiao in the "fight of the century" held at Las Vegas. Being in his best behavior, the 21-year-old singer was allowed to have some fun at the Rehab pool party of the Hard Rock Hotel.
