Royal baby no. 2 was born on Saturday, May 2 to Princess Kate Middleton and Prince William of Cambridge. Her name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Kensington tweeted the news on early Monday morning. Princess Charlotte is fourth in line to succeed Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, and the Middleton family visited the newborn on Sunday, May 3.
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana," Kensington Palace tweeted on Monday morning.
All of London celebrated the newborn princess' birth on Saturday. The Tower Bridge's two towers were lit a magenta hue and the London Eye, a ferris wheel was lit a neon pink color. The Blackburn Tower displayed a message that read, "it's a girl" in honor of her birth. The sign was pink and purple.
"She is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to meet her," said Prince Harry.
62 Gun salutes were fired by the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) at the Tower of London. The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery fired 41 cannon volleys at Hyde Park. The Royal Artillery Band played "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder while marching. The bells at Westminister Abbey rang the "Cambridge Surprise Royal" for three hours.
