With their charity campaign "Always Keep Fighting', "Supernatural' actor Jared Padalecki raked in the necessary funds for non-profit organization To Write Love on Her Arms to reach their goals in supporting individuals experiencing addiction, depression and suicidal tendencies.
In addition, the 32-year-old actor also drew attention to raising awareness for mental illness after the suicide of a close friend or family member.
With the aid of "Supernatural' fans, who continue to support the series even if it is already headed towards its season 10 finale, the T-shirt campaign has already gained considerable success.
Now, Padalecki has joined forces with co-star Jensen Ackles and the duo has already come up with a joint fund to promote a number of causes and support people suffering from mental illness and mood disorders, among others.
It is also expected that the two "Supernatural' actors will collaborate with Random Acts, a foundation set up by Misha Collins. However, Ackles admits that the duo will be focusing first on their "junior foundation."
In an interview with People Magazine, the former "Smallville' actor explained his personal goals and intentions for becoming involved in charity. He also shared how he has helped Padalecki in recovering from a "dark road" while shooting the third season of "Supernatural.'
"He went down this kind of dark road, mentally, and he was very fortunate to have people around him," Ackles recalled. "It wasn't just me. I mean, I happened to be maybe a stronger voice in the whole thing but he had friends, crew people, producers, friends, family."
The 37-year-old actor also opened up about having to deal with such issues and how important it is to have a person or two in your life to listen and help out when things go seriously wrong. Similarly important is the courage to reach out to others and admit that you need their help.
"It's a great thing to have a support system of people willing to fight with you and fight for you," Ackles said. "You just really need to allow that to happen."
The "Dawson's Creek' alum had nothing but positive words about his friendship with Padalecki, highlighting their roles in each other's ups and downs.
"We've established not only a good working relationship but a good friendship and also a good support system with each other."
With the tenth season beginning to "wind down", fans can catch "Supernatural' every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
