In observance of the National Day of Prayer (NDOP), some 800 people from various Korean churches in the Orange County area gathered at Grace Ministries International on Thursday night, interceding on behalf of the U.S. and the leaders of the nation.
"When we pray, miracles happen," said Reverend Jungmyung Song, the CEO of Gospel Broadcasting Company (GBC). GBC is one of the major Korean Christian radio stations in Southern California.
Several dozen Korean immigrant and Korean American leaders led prayer topics on repentance; intercession for families and school campuses in the U.S.; intercession for President Obama, Congress, the Supreme Court Justices, and the other leaders of the nation; intercession for the leaders of churches and ministries; intercession on behalf of Korea; and intercession on behalf of missionaries all over the world, and especially for those who are facing persecution in their mission fields.
"May You give courage to carry out justice; courage against evil; and courage to do what is right," Reverend Steve Choi, the lead pastor of Crossway Church, said in prayer on behalf of the nation's leaders.
The National Day of Prayer is a designated national observance that has been observed since 1952 by a joint resolution in Congress that was signed by then President Harry Truman. Over 40,000 gatherings are estimated to have taken place on Thursday to observe the day in corporate prayer.
The gathering of Korean churches in Orange County was hosted by the Jesus Awakening Movement for America/All Nations (JAMA) and the Korean Christian Council in America.
