Asus has released upgraded versions of its ZenFone 2 smartphone specifically for the Indian market.
Although all of the variants are named ZenFone 2, each model has different features and specifications, according to NDTV.
The first model unveiled by Asus is the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML with 4GB of RAM and powered by the 64-bit I.83GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 chipset. It sports a 5.5-inch full HD display and is equipped with 32GB of internal storage.
The handset is currently available through Flipkart and is being sold for RS 18,999, which is around $300. According to Asus, it decided to release a 4GB RAM variant of the ZenFone 2 due to the demand from consumers. However, the company noted that it will only release limited stocks of the model.
"Due to the overwhelming demand for #ZenFone2 4GB variant, we're bringing limited stock of ZE551ML / 1.8GHz Processor / 4GB RAM / 32GB Storage priced at Rs 18,999 specifically for India," Asus posted on its Facebook page.
As for the other models, the most expensive variant of the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML costs RS 29,999 and features a 5.5-inch display, 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. This is followed by the RS 22,999 model that comes with almost the same features except it has 64GB of ROM.
The third model, which costs Rs 19,999, also shares the some of the specs of the other variants but is equipped with 32GB of storage space. Lastly, the cheapest variant, priced at $14,999, comes with a 5.5-inch display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
All of the 2GB and 4GB RAM models are powered by either the 1.83GHz or 2.33GHz Intel processor.
Although the other versions of the ZenFone 2 will only be launched in India, Asus is preparing to unveil other variants for the U.S. market, Geeky-Gadgets has learned. The first model, which is also part of the ZenFone 2 line, will sport a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It will have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage and will be powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom chipset.
The higher-end model will have the same display size but will feature a full HD screen with a 1920x1080p resolution. It will also run on a more powerful 2.3GHz Intel processor and will have 4GB of RAM. This variant will have 32GB of built-in storage.
Both models are scheduled to be unveiled in the U.S. during an event on May 18.
