Melissa Rivers opened up about her decision to pursue the lawsuit filed against the New York clinic where her mother, the late Joan Rivers, met her untimely demise in October last year, according to Time. The author of The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief, and Manipulation also shared her reactions on her incredibly huge inheritance money and the future of the controversial show, Fashion Police.
"I want to find out what happened," she said on The Wendy Williams Show, referring to the death of her mother in the New York clinic following a routine throat procedure. "I need to know, I need answers. I'm angry," Rivers added. The comedienne died at the age of 81.
While the court case against the clinic has been receiving wide media coverage, another issue that keeps cropping up in the news nowadays is the incredibly inheritance money of Rivers which is rumored to reach a total of $100 million - fact that talk show host Williams eagerly pointed out as her interviewee was wearing diamonds at that time.
"You're on a big choking diamonds trend," Williams teased Rivers on her ensemble. "Now that you have $100 million," the host added, alluding to the rumored cash the new author now has in store.
Rivers was then quick to respond and said, "Which I do not have, by the way!" She then added, "That was a giant exaggeration to the point where I read it so many places, I picked up my phone and called my business manager."
She went on to share that she asked her business manager to clarify the rumors. "I said, 'Do I have $100 million?' He was like, 'No.' I said, 'Maybe you forgot to tell me.' He said, 'No, I didn't forget to tell you, you don't have it,'" Rivers narrated.
The author also disclosed some hints on the future of Fashion Police. She shared that the meltdown of all the hosts as well as the other issues linked to the show following her mother's demise might have been due to their decision to return too early. However, she said that no concrete details have been decided on just yet and everything is still in its early stages as of now.
"It's just sitting down and saying 'Okay, we went back too fast,'" she shared. "We didn't realize how much everybody was mourning," Rivers added. "It really was a family and the sisters started to have a fight, and all these things kind of happened. We lost our matriarch, and now we're figuring it out again," she went on to say, possibly remarking on the misunderstanding among the hosts which began with comments on Disney star Zendaya's hairstyle.
