"The Magnificent Seven" has a new addition to the group as heartthrob actor Matt Bomer joins the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bomer, the widely known star of "The Normal Heart" and "White Collar," will be joining the team "The Magnificent Seven" - a role different from the usual characters take on by the "Magic Mike" star. Alongside Bomer will be Denzel Washington who worked with the flick's director, Antoine Fuqua, in his Oscar winning role in the film "Training Day." Jason Momoa, who has been reported to play the lead role in an upcoming superhero film, "Aquaman," will also be part of the project. Ethan Hawke from the widely acclaimed film, "Boyhood," as well as Washington's co-star in "The Equalizer," Haley Bennett, will take on major roles as well.
Meanwhile, Chris Pratt of the blockbuster film "Guardians of the Galaxy" and Byung-hun Lee of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" will be featured as well. Rounding up the characters for Fuqua's "The Magnificent Seven" are Wagner Moura from "Elite Squad" and Vincent D'Onofrio from "Marvel's Daredevil."
"The Magnificent Seven" is a reboot of the 1960s film that starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and Robert Vaughn. It was originally directed by John Sturges, which featured the story of an unlikely group working together to safeguard the people in a distraught Mexican village. The said community was said to be targeted by bandits headed by Eli Wallach. The success of the film opened doors to subsequent movies and even a TV series in CBS.
The reboot, which was initially written by Nic Pizzolatto of "True Detective" then rewritten by John Lee Hancock of "The Blind Side," will now feature the story of a mining town in badly need of salvation. Controlling the safety and fate of the people is an abusive gold baron who basically goes on rampage when he feels the need to do so, thereby making everyone in town a potential victim. "The Magnificent Seven" team enters the picture when Bennett, who is one of the townspeople, seeks their help to save the community from the cruel ruler.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bomer will be taking on the role of Bennett's husband. If the report is to be believed, then it appears that the "White Collar" actor will be one of the few people courageous enough to stand to the gold baron. However, his efforts will prove to be futile. The report revealed Bomer's character will fail in his mission to save the town himself. With this in mind, his fate in the film might be the potential trigger for his wife's decision to contact "The Magnificent Seven."
"The Magnificent Seven" is set for release in January 13, 2017.
