After months of negotiations and unconfirmed rumors, Marvel has reportedly entered into a deal with Asa Butterfield to take on the role of the new Spider-Man.
The 18-year-old actor, who has previously appeared as Hugo in Martin Scorsese's "Hugo' and Bruno in "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas', will reportedly join the cast of the upcoming Marvel film to fill the webslinger's suit.
Such speculations associating Butterfield with the role have gone viral online during the past weeks, brought on by the statement of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who expressed his preference for the hero's next movie to follow his experiences in school.
In the more recent Spider-Man films, the role of Peter Parker has been filled in by Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield. However, during their time of portraying the friendly hero, their Spider-men failed to become involved with the Avengers as their films were entirely produced by Sony and not by Marvel Studios.
With Sony lending out Spider-man to Marvel Studios, the superhero is now expected to be featured in upcoming "Avengers' movies with which his first appearance will be alongside Captain America and Iron Man in the new "Captain America: Civil War' film to be released next year.
Peter Parker took on a critical role in the Civil War comic book series when he acknowledged his identity as Spider-man years after he kept his superpowers secret.
Meanwhile, the plot for the upcoming "Captain America' movie has been recently revealed by Marvel, continuing from where "Avengers: Age of Ultron' ended.
With Steve Rogers enlisting the new team of Avengers to continue protecting humanity, both the international government and a new villain will put pressure on the superheroes to take sides and carry out their key mission.
"Civil War' will have Chris Evans once more to play Captain America alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton (Hawkeye), to name a few.
Scheduled for an official U.S. release on May 6, 2016, the third installment of the superhero series is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously worked on "Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and "Community.'
