Pop singer Pink has bagged another prestigious award as she was honored with the President's Award by Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), a U.S. music rights organization, and was recognized for her songwriting.
"This is the best ever. It's about songwriting, and that's what I've always wanted so badly to be recognized for, as opposed to being popular," Pink said last Tuesday.
Every year, the BMI Pop Awards give out recognition for songwriters and publishers alike for coming up with the most-performed pop tracks within the United States.
Aside from Pink, who received the award for her "outstanding achievement in songwriting and global impact on pop culture and the entertainment industry", other music artists who were honored included Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson and Gloria Estefan.
Born as Alecia Moore, the Grammy award-winning artist has already released six studio albums as well as a debut album for You + Me, her pop duo with Canadian music artist Dallas Green.
"I've always tried to be uncomfortably honest and open to the point of oversharing in my career," Pink stated as she accepted the award.
The 35-year-old music star emerged in the pop scene in 2000 and introduced her edgy self to the world, making a considerable difference among traditional female singers.
Since then, Pink has come up with hits that became party anthems and feel-good pick-me-uppers, such as "Get The Party Started', "Just Like A Pill' and "Raise Your Glass.'
She has also secured a spot in the list of music's highest-earning women as she raked in almost $52 million in 2014 alone, as reported by Forbes.
Aside from the BMI Pop Awards, Pink also opened up about her response towards body shamers who have made harsh comments about her image and weight.
The singer shared her sentiments on bullying, saying that she does not tolerate such acts and that she has feelings like everybody else.
"I'm not a person that will be bullied. I'm not a person that will stand by and watch other people bullied," Pink told ET. "I think that I'm also raising a girl. I am a girl. I have feelings."
In the end, the singer shared that she is finding joy in the daily things that she and her family take part in and that they are "doing all right in the Hart household."
"While you shouldn't hide your feelings or run from pain or numb yourself down I still think it's really important to laugh at all of it," Pink said.
