One power couple won $1 million in the final leg of an adventurous race around the world. Team SoCal, The Legal Team, RX For Love, and Truck Stop Love all raced their way to the finish line, but Laura Pierson and Tyler Adams gained the edge over everyone else. "The Amazing Race' Season 26 Episode 12 "Monster Truck Heroes" aired on Friday, May 15 on CBS.
After traveling in the United States, Japan, Thailand, Germany, Monaco, France, Namibia, The Netherlands, and Peru, Team SoCal placed first in four legs of the great race. Pierson and Adams won a trip to Puerto Vallarta in Leg 4, a trip to Capetown in Leg 6, $5,000 U.S dollars in Leg 7, and ultimately $1 million in the Final Leg. Adams attributed winning the race to staying positive. He stated that the race was "a lot of give and take."
"Say it to me, Phil. Say it to me!" yelled Adams in excitement as he made it on the winner's platform with Pierson.
Team SoCal sprinted their way down to the finish line with a large crowd cheering them on. All couples eliminated in previous rounds were present at the finish line.
"Five continents, 8 countries, more than 5 thousand miles, Laura and Tyler you have won the $1 million and you are the official winners of the "Amazing Race.' Congratulations!" said host Phil Keoghan. "21 days ago, you guys didn't even know each other and after twelve legs of the race, here you are. I mean, I know you wanted to win the million dollars, but you were also looking for love. What kind of love did you find?"
Adams replied that he and Pierson became really good friends throughout the 21 days. He said that they learned from each others' strengths and weaknesses. Adams and Pierson said that it was an exciting and amazing experience for the both of them.
"I found love with the world. I found a lasting friendship and we're never gonna forget this. This is so incredible. One thing I did want to say is, Laura, she's been awesome. We balanced each other out well and we're here because we're a team and we made it work," said Adams.
Pierson, a talent booker and Adams, a mobile app developer proved to be the most compatible teammates in Season 26. Jelani Roy and Jenny Wu, lawyers in The Legal Team came in second place. Blair Townsend, a navy surgeon and Hayley Keel, a pediatric trauma nurse in RX For Love, got third place. Mike Dombrowski and Rochelle Revedal, Truck Stop Love were eliminated from the race in the season finale.
Eleven teams competed in Season 26 of "The Amazing Race.' Six teams were couples in a pre-existing romantic relationship whereas five couples met on the show's blind date sequence. Consequently, all top three of the teams were blind date teams. "The Amazing Race' was renewed for a 27th season on May 11. The show's sponsors are Travelocity, Ford, and Fitbit.
